During our trip, the wonder continued to deepen.
You can read the last part of the journey — in which the impressions come together and continue to work — in the newsletter of 1 July:

Sometimes there were encounters that were more difficult to comprehend. Not grand and impressive, but subtle, almost elusive.
To make you curious — we saw a special organism: a salp.
Salp (Salpidae)
In a Greek port I saw something I couldn’t draw.
A transparent body, propelled by small, repeated pulses.
Almost a meter long — and yet hardly present.
Only later did I find a name: salp.
A barrel-shaped marine animal that is rarely alone, but often connected in long chains. What I saw was probably just one fragment.
It had something caterpillar-like. Small reddish accents lit up with every movement, like beads on a string.
It moved slowly—circling, then straight on again—harmless and almost careless, as if it didn’t have to go anywhere.
Sometimes they appear en masse, I read later, and such chains can grow meters long.
What I saw was only a glimpse.
And yet it stuck.
Sometimes looking is strange enough.
